Activiteiten 2019

NorSA DeDoorns 6th Activity – Telling a Story & then Apply some of it to their lives.

 4-5 yr olds

I told the story of the 3 Pigs to them, with nice A4 pictures. We then talked about the different materials one could use to build a house. Our houses can also look different on the inside. Our houses are built with wood, metal sheets of bricks; how many rooms, toilet inside or outside, what do we have in our kitchens, how many people sleep in a room, etc. They enjoyed telling me about their houses. Then they made drawings of it and we wrote on the picture everything they drew about their houses! As always, they made really good and age appropriate drawings!!

 3-4 yr olds

I told the story of the 3 Pigs to them, with nice A4 pictures, their teacher translated the story and sometimes they told her what they think I said. With this class I did English vocabulary practice, as there is never enough time for them to draw and I have noticed that vocabulary expansion is necessary. We did a known story, so that we would have enough time to be able to practice understanding of the words and saying them in English as well.

Then they made drawings of it and we wrote on the picture everything they drew about their houses! This class can express themselves better verbally, then on paper. I think this might be the result of a culture where they talk a lot, but don’t have the resources to always be able to draw pictures.

3-4 yr olds and # 2-3 yr olds

The 3-4 yr olds’ teacher was at the clinic and they were with the 2-3 yr olds, as they are a small class. It was a little overwhelming for the 2-3 yr old teacher, because she is used to a small class, young and not very experienced yet, but she handled it quite well! I did the same as with the 4-5 yr old class. It went ok, but not all of them were involved as usual, not being used to being in the same class.
